Ashton Ridge Apartments

Overview

In 2000, Community Action Agency formed a Limited Partnership with the Sterling Group (multi-family housing developers) to develop, construct and operate an affordable apartment complex in Jackson County on Blake Road between Dettman Road and Elm Street in Blackman Township. Community Action Agency supports residents of Ashton Ridge by providing a Head Start site within the complex.

Who Is Eligible?

Rent amounts for Ashton Ridge are based on current HUD guidelines for households at 40%, 50% and 60% of area median income. To contact Ashton Ridge, call (517) 788-5576.

Additional Program Information

Ashton Ridge contains 144 units (8 units per building). The complex includes a Head Start classroom, clubhouse, office facility, laundry facilities and outdoor recreation facilities.

Garfield Square Project

Overview

Community Action Agency received a $751,638 grant from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) to develop affordable housing in the City of Jackson. The project operates in partnership with AWARE (the local domestic violence shelter) and together Community Action Agency and AWARE purchased and renovated five residential units, known as Garfield Square.  

In addition, the project provides additional rental subsidies for 8 scattered-site rental units.  These units are owned and operate by private landlords within Jackson County.  This affordable housing comes with other program assistance ranging from budgeting to job training opportunities to assist Jackson families more to self-sufficiency.

Who Is Eligible?

In order to be eligible for housing assistance through the Garfield Square project, families must be homeless with no means of securing stable housing.  For more information, please see the Homeless Prevention & Assistance page of the CAA website.

Mechanic-Partnership Park Permanent Housing

Overview

Community Action Agency received a grant from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) to develop affordable housing in the Partnership Park neighborhood.  Through this project, CAA purchased and rehabilitated an apartment building with 4 two-bedroom units and a single family home.  In addition to affordable housing, this program provides case management and budgeting.

Who Is Eligible?

In order to be eligible for housing assistance through the Mechanic Partnership Park program a family must be homeless with no means to secure housing AND one adult member of the household must have a disability.  For more information, please see the Homeless Prevention & Assistance page of the CAA website.

Mechanic Partnership Park housing units are owned and operated by Community Action Agency.

Partnership Park Homes

Overview

In 2006, Community Action Agency partnered with the Sterling Group in order to build 16 new single family homes in the Partnership Park Neighborhood with funding through the Low Income Housing Tax Credit and support from Great Lakes Capital Fund.

Additional Program Information

Partnership Park homes include 3 and 4 bedroom units with garages, full basements, washers & dryers and dishwashers.
