Jackson County: We have completed shopping and we were able to serve 953 children this year.
With the help of all our staff, partners and the support of the community, we were able to serve over 18% more than last years' 805; that was almost 19% more than the 2014 campaign which served 677.
The Warm the Children program is designed to buy new warm winter clothing. 100% of the donations go directly towards buying the clothing. No administrative fees are taken out. Many people ask why we buy new and do not do coat drives. There are a few reasons. For a coat drive, there often ends up being children and coats who are not matched. Also it's extremely labor intensive.
Warm the Children gives people the dignity and ability to choose what clothing items they need most. Children can buy: coats, hats, mittens, scarves, boots, pajamas, pants, long-sleeved shirts, underwear, or even socks.
